Finds 1: Educational Nostalgia
Finds 1: Educational Nostalgia
For this first finds assignment, I created a picture of myself as a nostalgic, home town girl, who is very much connected to school and academic work. My finds center around ways in which my memories connect to my academic work. Although there are not many images that make this connection explicit, the juxtaposition of personal images from the past and present show a focus both on history and on academic work.
Kabuki & Azrel
Kabuki & Azrel

These are two of my babys. Kabuki followed me home, literally. I saw him in the gutter and he walked home with me and sat on my front steps until I let him in. He has such an animated face, but he reminds me of Garfield. His favorite pastimes are begging for food, begging to go out, and sleeping on whatever papers I am working on. I love my handsome boy! And Azrel is named after the cat on the Smurfs. She is a sleek huntress, who can jump onto the top of a door frame from a sitting position on the floor. What points she looses for being skiddish, she makes up with grace. It takes a while for Azrel to warm up to strangers, but if you start to pet her, she will never let you stop. These two kittys are about 3 months apart in age and have lived together since they were kittens. In fact, if Kabuki is shut up somewhere and Azrel can't find him, she will cry until we let him out. Not only are they adorable, but they are always there when I need a hug. They have lived through 4 different apartments, one hotel room, and 4 floods, and I hope they will be with me through a hell of a lot more.
